Travel News
Fiji Airways To Dallas (LINK)
Earlier this year, I mentioned that Fiji Airways would be launching a nonstop flight to Dallas later this year.
Well, it’s finally here, and let’s skip to the good part. While they’re offering discounted pricing for the nonstop route at $699, I’d much rather pay with points.
Lucky for you, I’ve already done the hard work and found some award availability for select dates.
While you can book it through American Airlines, the points required are absolutely ludicrous. Instead, check out Qantas, where you can snag business class for 94,900 points, or Alaska Airlines, which has a few dates available for just 75,000 miles. If I had any Alaska miles, I’d jump on that deal ASAP.

I’ll add all the dates I found under the Flights of the Week section
500 Free Alaska Miles (LINK)
Alaska Airlines just announced that they’re releasing a new credit card, and one of the most interesting perks is a global companion award certificate. Basically, a BOGO deal not just for U.S. flights but for flights all over the world.
Should be pretty interesting once we get more details.
For now, you can snag 500 free miles just for joining the waitlist by December 31 (sign up here) and another 5,000 miles if you decide to apply for the card when it drops and get approved.
Oh, and there’s a way to earn the free 500 miles and pool them with other people, but I’ll let you read more about that in the article.
Fly Delta One to Taipei (LINK)
This is one of those rare times when having Delta points actually pays off.
While we’ve seen Delta offer this type of availability before, we haven’t seen it so widespread across so many locations.
Check out the post for a full list of departure cities, with redemptions from 130k down to 110k including some great options out of Seattle.

🤓 Hacks
If you’re traveling this month, make sure to toss an AirTag into your suitcase. Airlines are finally starting to integrate AirTag tracking into their lost baggage forms, making it so much easier to locate your bag if it goes missing. Shoutout to United for being the first one.
Sometimes, you’ll have the option to pay more with points or cash when booking a flight, so it’s always worth checking multiple airline partners. For example, with TAP Portugal flights, you could either pay 60k Aeroplan points and $155 in taxes or 88k United miles and $60 in taxes and fees for the exact same flight.
🧑🏿💻 Question From You
Every week I answer one question from the community. Reply to this email with yours because you’re probably not the only one that has it.
Question
Jared asked what can you do if you book a flight on a specific type of plane and it gets changed.
Unfortunately, this kind of thing happens a lot. You book a flight, and the airline swaps the aircraft.
You can either accept it or reach out to see if they’ll do anything about it.
Qatar Airways, though, does things differently with their Qsuite guarantee.
If you book an aircraft with their best business class (Qsuites) and it gets swapped, you can change your flight. No questions asked, no change fee, even if it’s a reward flight.
And the best part? You don’t even need award availability to rebook.
There is some fine print: you can only move your travel date by ±21 days, the first change is free, but any others will come with the normal fee. If you’re using an Avios ticket, the lack of award availability won’t matter for the change.
